At WeTrade, we believe that businesses have a duty in giving back to society. Since 2019, we have been actively committed to our corporate social responsibility by supporting various philanthropic initiatives. Some of them include education, healthcare, environmental conservation and aiding vulnerable populations. 

Recently, we extended our hand to the “Shining House” orphanage in Depok, West Java, Indonesia. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the local community has faced economic hardship, and more children were left orphaned as the mortality rate increased. 

WeTrade aims to empower these children and create a nurturing environment for them to follow their dreams. And with that comes the “Shining House” project or “Rumah Bersinar” in Indonesian, a project managed by Yayasan Mata Air Harapan Indonesia. It is a shelter for orphaned and underprivileged children, specifically affected by the recent pandemic. 

The “Shining House” project has four main purposes which are: 

• Orphanage: "Shining House" will provide a nurturing dormitory complete with beds and essential amenities, alongside dedicated caregivers available 24/7 to ensure the well-being of the children. 

• Guidance: It will serve as a mentorship and educational platform offering training in ethics, intellect, communal prayers, counselling and technology-based education.

• Skills Development: The shelter will provide training programmes to help children learn independent skills including gardening and waste management, which will then help the local community.

• Foster Parent Programme: The Foster Parent Programme will open doors for local children to pursue higher education and strive for success. 

Compelled by this project and determined to turn it into a reality, we started by giving a $2,000 donation for roof and ceiling construction, ensuring a safe and stable haven for these children. But that’s not all, we will continue to monitor the progress of the dormitory and contribute to various aspects of the project in the future, reflecting our ongoing dedication to supporting societal development.
